“ Nice, simple and old fashioned. Good Service .The Tempura was good. The Gyoza is crispy and tender inside. The beef teriyaki was tender . The Sashimi was ok..There is a lot of to go orders and patrons coming. They have great portions. It has a very welcoming vibe. ”
“ This is just the place to get japanese food. Every spot is trying to be some fancy trendy bs with overpriced nonsense but fujiyama-ya keeps it real. Eating in was a good move cuz you get some miso soup. And the ladies working were very nice and attentive. Will be back soon ”
“ Love the ambiance, very warm and welcoming. The food is amazing especially the Beef Sukiyaki and they are also really cheap. Service is on point ”
“ Love this place for a casual weeknight dinner with good sushi and the prices are unbeatable! Their sashimi comes with salad and miso soup. The interior is cozy and they usually get pretty busy here. ”
“ A local staple in the sunset for whenever you're craving sushi and don't want to spend lots of money. It's affordable sushi that hits the spot! It's a small and cozy place and can get crowded so get there early. We ordered the sunset roll and 49ers roll which are two of my favorites! I love the scallop and different types of fish. We also got the combo G which comes with tempura and sashimi (we got tuna for our sashimi) the tempura was very crispy! The combos also come with rice and miso soup which is a nice addition. ”
“ Five stars for the following reasons: 1. THE PRICES HELLO?! IN THIS ECONOMY? Probably the most reasonably priced sushi I've seen in SF. We got a sushi combo for $13 and tempura udon for less than $10. 2. Food quality was better than I expected for the price, so I was pleasantly surprised! Tempura was light and crisp, and the meal also comes with complementary miso soup. 3. Authentic homey Japanese restaurant run by Japanese people, unlike most Japanese places nearby that are run by Chinese families. 4. They close later than your usual 9:00pm restaurant closing times. My late night dinner date appreciates it 100%, but dangg let grandpa in the kitchen go to sleep earlier! I'm surprised I haven't came earlier considering I live nearby, but this is definitely my new go-to sushi spot! ”
“ This is our neighborhood restaurant. It's a down home restaurant run By a family. The place is packed Everything I go. The prices are so Reasonable. We ordered the deluxe chirashi bowl and chicken kaarage. The chicken kaarage was cooked crispy. It had a tempura dipping sauce. I would have preferred a Mayo Sirracha sauce. I liked The rice in The chirashi bowl. Good value for the money here. ”
“ Hadn't been here for a while, but the food is still delicious. All three of us ordered combination dinners with beef amiyaki and salmon teriyaki; it's definitely a favorite. Came with miso soup, salad, and rice. Portions are adequate for the average person, but because one person also ordered the mixed tempura and edamame for the table, I had about a third of my salmon and three quarters of my beef left, which will be great for lunch tomorrow! It came to about $95 for the three of us, not including the gratuities. Service was good, too. We were seated immediately because we arrived when they opened at 5; it can get really crowded later in the evening! Great neighborhood gem with pretty authentic Japanese food. ”
“ Nice little spot sure to have something for anyone craving Japanese food, and at a great price! Whether it's sushi, a chicken or steak plate, or udon, they really have quite the spread. We ordered two sushi rolls, the spider roll and sunset roll, edamame, and a bento box with chicken teriyaki to share, and that was plenty of food for two of us. The food also came out pretty quickly and the servers were all nice and on top of it. Both rolls were good, though the sunset roll was my favorite as I tend to prefer to completely fresh rolls. The fish was fresh and tasted great, as did the tuna sashimi in the bento box. The sashimi was on the smaller side, but I liked that since it sort of melted in your mouth. Even though we shared the bento box they were nice enough to bring us each a bowl of miso soup, which tasted great and really hit the spot on a cool SF evening. This place was so close to 5 stars, everything was a hit aside from the teriyaki chicken. Normally I would overlook it if it wasn't that great and everything else was, but I really didn't like the teriyaki chicken at all. I had a couple pieces then stopped eating it. I'm not sure what it was but it just tasted off, it was pretty dry and maybe tasted a little burnt even. The place is pretty small and can get packed. We came on a Friday for a late dinner around 8pm, we were seated immediately, but by the time we were done a little closer to 9, there was a line out the door. Would definitely come back here, would just plan to skip the teriyaki chicken. ”
“ Been coming here for years and finally snapped some pics . Our party of 3 came on a Friday night for dinner and luckily got seated straight away. We did notice they did have a line of one or two parties so make sure you put your name down when you arrive. We got served hot tea and a bowl of edamame upon sitting down which was great. They've changed up the menu since I've been back but we love getting the bento boxes to which you can chose three items. I opted for the salmon sashimi, saba and shrimp tempura. It comes with miso soup, rice and ice cream for dessert. So you're in for a filling meal with the bento boxes. If you get anything from the menu you NEED to try their tempura. The batter is so light and crispy, not thick or heavy at all. Think it has to be my favorite place for tempura in the city. The salmon sashimi was pretty buttery but nothing to write home about. While the hamachi was pretty solid and the standout of the two. Another highlight was the saba which was cooked perfectly, juicy tender and crispy skin. We also ordered two rolls to share, the real crab California roll and rock and roll which we found the rice to be a bit on the mushy side. For dessert we chose green tea and mango ice cream that left us stuffed! ”
